A mobile app developers’ network, facilitated by Media Factory, is being established within Aalto University. The network is a special interest group for all with an interest in developing, teaching and researching applications for mobile devices.
The network will have its second meeting next Tuesday March 9th, from 9.30 to 11.30 in Media Factory’s NEW OFFICE in Aalto University School of Art and Design. The office is situated on the 3rd floor “above” the Arabia center corridor (with e.g. the Iittala shop). Our office is at the end of the 3rd floor corridor, in the premises that were used before by TaiK study affairs office (OOP).
In order to be able to estimate the number of attendees, we would hope all those joining the meeting to e-mail mikko.villi{at}taik.fi by Monday 12 o’clock.
The agenda for the meeting:
- The iPhone Developer University Program in the Aalto context. Antti Aarnio will give an introduction.
- Planning the mobile app Tuli Talk. If you already have suggestions for a keynote speaker, please contact Mikko Villi.
- Presentation of the course proposal Mobile Interaction Prototyping (MIP)
Mobile Interaction Prototyping (MIP) course will introduce mobile application prototyping to students to practice new ways of interacting physically in interactive-art practices and product design strategies. The nature of mobile devices brings forth a form of interaction with graspable interfaces and it leads design strategies to be developed further to allow eyes-free and location-free style interactions, enabling participants to focus more attention on their mobility and interaction with other participants instead of having continuous visual interaction with their mobile devices. MIP course will develop these design strategies to explore multimodal interaction design practices where they adapt physical interaction to everyday-life applications and contemporary art works. The course will introduce artistic strategies, structures and methodologies for the creation of mobile interactions. Course will be taught using the Pure Data, Arduino and Python open-source environments.
Lecturers: Koray Tahiroğlu (koray.tahiroglu{ät}taik.fi), Jurgen Scheible (jurgen.scheible{ät}taik.fi), Michihito Mizutani (info{ät}michihito.com)
