A documentary Le Pavillon de la Finlande à l’exposition universelle de 1900 à Paris will be shown at the FIFA (International Festival of Films on Art) in Montreal.
The film is an eight minute documentary that renders the Finnish Pavilion at the 1900 World Fair in Paris. Aalto University Department of Media has done a virtual reconstruction of the pavilion, and by using the archive materials with computer generated imagery, the film renders a simulation of the Pavilion.
The Finnish Pavilion at the 1900 World Fair in Paris, is an AMF Seed Funding project that started in 2009. The project group, led by professor Lily Díaz, produced a three dimensional digital reconstruction of the pavilion presented in a virtual reality environment. The virtual model can be examined from both inside and outside, and the visitor can control the view and explore the building freely. The virtual reconstruction has been publicly in display in several events and the movie presenting the pavilion has been part of the Akseli Gallen-Kallela exhibition both in Paris and Düsseldorf.
FIFA will be held in Montreal on March 20th to 30th.
