Games Now! -lecture series continues on 2014. We will start with a panel discussion on the relationship between game research, the game industry and gaming culture. All of the speakers have an academic background and a different level of experience from the game industry.
Aki Järvinen (PhD) is experienced in the game industry and has also done some academic game studies. Currently he is developing mobile games at Grand Cru.
Markus Montola (PhD) currently works as a Game & Monetization designer at Housemarque. He is also an author or an editor of five books, including Pervasive Games: Theory and Design (2009) and Nordic Larp (2010).
Frans Mäyrä (PhD) is the Professor of Information Studies and Interactive Media, with specialization in digital culture and game studies in the University of Tampere, Finland. He is heading the University of Tampere Game Research Lab, and has taught and studied digital culture and games from the early 1990s.
